On the morning of January 22, 2026, Cat Ba National Park organized a Review Conference to evaluate the implementation of the Coordination Regulation between Cat Ba National Park and the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board.
Attending the conference, on behalf of the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board, was Comrade Mai Vu Tuan – Head of the Board, along with Deputy Heads and representatives from various professional departments and units.
Representing Cat Ba National Park was Comrade Nguyen Van Thiu – Director of CBNP (Co-chair of the conference), together with Deputy Directors, Heads and Deputy Heads of Departments, and the Park’s Forest Protection Unit.
Opening the conference, Comrade Nguyen Van Thiu provided an overview of the collaborative results achieved between the two entities in 2025, highlighting the advantages and challenges encountered during task implementation, as well as the joint cooperation plan for 2026. He emphasized that Cat Ba National Park and the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board share many similarities and a mutual responsibility in managing the World Heritage site. Therefore, unified coordination between the two parties is essential. He expressed his desire for the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu Management Board, with its extensive experience in heritage management, to share expertise and support Cat Ba National Park in effectively fulfilling its natural heritage management mandates.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Mai Vu Tuan – Head of the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board, shared the same viewpoint as the leadership of Cat Ba National Park. He suggested that both parties need to develop a new coordination regulation, tailored to current practical conditions, to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of World Heritage management.

The conference discussed and reached a consensus on several key focus areas as follows:

Continue refining the following contents: Mapping the Heritage site; formulating the Management Regulation and the Management Plan for the Ha Long Bay – Cat Ba Archipelago World Natural Heritage site.

Assign Comrade Doan Thanh Son – Head of the Department of Heritage, Biosphere, and Ecotourism, to serve as the focal point for drafting the 2026 Coordination Regulation between Cat Ba National Park and the Ha Long Bay – Yen Tu World Heritage Management Board.

Both parties will jointly ensure the progress and quality of the implementation of UNESCO’s recommendations.

Strengthen coordination in scientific research, biodiversity investigations, and other related activities.
