Joining the atmosphere of World Turtle Day 2026, we are thrilled to share a highly meaningful event: Cat Ba National Park has coordinated with the Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority to safely receive a rare Giant Asian Pond Turtle (Heosemys grandis) weighing approximately 5kg at the semi-wild animal rescue station.

Turtles serve as ancient “living witnesses” of our planet, holding immense significance for biodiversity and ecological balance. Nevertheless, turtle conservation efforts in Vietnam continue to face significant challenges stemming from habitat loss and anthropogenic pressures.

The moment the turtle is safely rescued and cared for is not just a mere task, but a continuation of hope. The timely coordination between the Maritime Port Authority and Cat Ba National Park is a testament to the relentless efforts of management agencies and the community in the journey to preserve “nature’s memories” for future generations.

On this occasion, please join us in spreading the love and responsibility for protecting turtle species. Every individual returned to the wild is an affirmation: Vietnam still has the opportunity for rare turtle species to thrive and develop sustainably.

Protecting turtles today is preserving our natural pride for the future.
