On the afternoon of November 26, 2025, Cat Ba National Park organized the 2025 Training and Drill for Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting (FFPF) to enhance response and handling capacity for forest fire situations during the dry season. The program was attended by representatives from relevant units.

Representing the Region I Forest Protection Department (FPD): Comrade Tran Van Mau – Captain of the Mobile FPD and FFPF Team. Representing the Cat Hai Special Zone People’s Committee: Comrade Doan Thị Huong Sen – Specialist from the Economic Division. Representing Area I Forest Protection Unit – Hai Phong FPD: Comrade Tran Quoc Hong – Head of Area I Forest Protection Unit. From Cat Ba National Park: Comrade Nguyen Van Thiu – Director of Cat Ba National Park. Comrade Pham Van Phuc – Deputy Director of the Park.

The event also saw the participation of all officials and employees, along with media coverage by reporters from Hai Phong Newspaper and Hai Phong Radio & Television Station.

During the training program, all officials and staff members received comprehensive instructions on the features, functions, and operation of specialized forest firefighting equipment, including fire blowers, extinguishers, and water pumps. Additionally, participants were trained in early fire risk identification, the mobilization of on-site forces, and the deployment of response plans tailored to various fire severity levels, with a strong emphasis on personal safety protocols during operations. The integration of technical equipment skills with simulated field scenarios significantly enhanced the participants’ coordination and proactive response readiness for potential forest fires during the dry season.

Following the theoretical session, the coordinated forces conducted a field exercise, implementing fire reporting procedures, mobilizing personnel, and containing and extinguishing simulated fires according to the ‘Four on-the-spot’ principle. The drill was carried out with urgency and discipline, demonstrating rapid response capabilities and seamless coordination among the units. These efforts are crucial for minimizing damage to forest resources and ensuring the safety of personnel during actual fire emergencies.

At the conclusion of the training and drill session, Comrade Tran Van Mau – Captain of the Mobile Forest Protection and FFPF Team, commended the serious spirit of the participating forces. He highly valued the drill’s content for being closely aligned with real-life scenarios, ensuring urgent deployment, strict adherence to procedures, and seamless coordination throughout every stage. He emphasized the necessity of further enhancing proficiency in modern forest firefighting equipment and the application of technology in early warning and fire monitoring systems, thereby gradually improving response effectiveness in the event of a forest fire.

Comrade Tran Quoc Hong – Head of Area I Forest Protection Unit, acknowledged and highly appreciated the quality of the drill plans as well as the proactivity shown by the participating forces. He urged the units to continue maintaining high vigilance during the dry season, ensuring constant readiness of vehicles, equipment, and personnel to respond promptly and effectively from the very onset of any fire point. These measures aim to minimize damage to forest resources and guarantee the safety of all individuals involved in firefighting operations.

Comrade Nguyen Van Thiu – Director of Cat Ba National Park, acknowledged and highly appreciated the sense of responsibility, thorough preparation, and effective coordination among the units throughout the training and drill process. He emphasized the requirement for the entire Park to continue heightening the spirit of vigilance, regularly reviewing fire-prone areas, and proactively developing response plans to ensure timely prevention and handling of forest fires from their very onset.
